Poll about doctors asking about teen mental health

A recent survey, with a national sample of over 1,200 parents of kids ages 11 to 18, asked about their experiences with screening for mental health issues. While the poll showed an overwhelming majority of parents felt they would recognize the signs of mental health issues in their adolescent, less than half said they would directly seek an appointment with a health care provider in response.

In addition, only 63% of parents reported that their health care providers ask about mental health concerns at check-ups. Unfortunately, of those who have sought mental health care, nearly half still reported it was difficult getting care.
